Hamas confirms second round of hostage release as part of truce deal Four Israeli Women to Be Freed
Hamas is set to disclose the names of four Israeli hostages it plans to release tomorrow as part of a deal under the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
"Bassem Naim, a senior Hamas official, confirmed to AFP: 'Today, Hamas will provide the names of four hostages as part of the second prisoner exchange,'" he stated, Caliber.Az reports.
"Tomorrow, the four female hostages will be released in exchange for a group of Palestinian prisoners, as outlined in the ceasefire agreement."
Naim, a member of Hamas's political bureau based in Doha, added that the exchange would also allow displaced Palestinians in southern Gaza to begin returning to the northern region of the territory.
"An Egyptian-Qatari committee will oversee the implementation of this part of the agreement on the ground," Naim explained.
"The displaced will travel from the south to the north via Al-Rashid Road, as Israeli forces are expected to withdraw in accordance with the agreement."
The ceasefire, which commenced on January 19, was the result of extensive negotiations led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. This marks the second ceasefire in over 15 months of conflict. Under the initial phase of the truce, three hostages were released in exchange for around 90 Palestinian prisoners.
