Heavy rains flood homes, farmland in Georgia’s Kakheti region PHOTO / VIDEO
Heavy rainfall has caused rivers to overflow in the Georgian villages of Lagodekhi, Kvareli, and Gurjaani, leading to damaged infrastructure and the flooding of gardens, yards, and the ground floors of residential homes.
The governor of Kakheti and the mayor of Lagodekhi have arrived in the affected area, where emergency services are currently working to deal with the aftermath, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
“We’ve had rain for more than a week. There is so much water that the sewage systems cannot cope — homes, yards, and crops have been flooded, and all the greenhouses are underwater,” affected residents told local media.
Residents told they had lost everything.
“This was our main source of income, and now we are left with nothing; we don’t know what will happen next,” they added.
