Honduras plans to purchase Ukrainian drones for border security
Honduran President Nasry Asfura has said the country plans to purchase Ukrainian drones to strengthen border security and combat organised crime, following his recent visit to Kyiv.
In an interview with AFP, Asfura said the initiative aims to deploy modern technologies to improve border protection and enhance efforts against criminal groups.
“We are talking about drones to protect our borders, for their effective protection, to fight organized crime with the help of high-tech equipment,” Asfura said.
He also noted that Ukrainian drone technology could potentially be applied in agriculture, although he did not provide further details on possible agricultural uses.
Asfura, who took office earlier this year, visited Kyiv last week, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During their talks, Zelenskyy offered cooperation and the sharing of Ukraine’s experience in various sectors, including advanced technologies.
Ukraine has developed extensive experience in drone use, particularly in military applications. Honduras, meanwhile, continues to face significant challenges related to violent crime linked to drug trafficking, gang activity, and corruption.
