Hotel blaze in Türkiye’s Marmaris resort sends six to hospital

04 April 2025 11:38

A fire broke out early in the morning at a hotel in the resort town of Marmaris, Türkiye, resulting in six people being hospitalized due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to Turkish media, the hotel, located in the İçmeler area, was hosting 680 guests who had traveled from various regions of Türkiye to celebrate the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, Caliber.Az reports.

Thankfully, all hotel guests were safely evacuated from the building during the incident.

The six individuals who were affected by carbon monoxide inhalation were immediately transported to the hospital for treatment.

The fire is believed to have originated in the hotel’s boiler room. Firefighting teams arrived swiftly at the scene and were able to gain control of the blaze quickly, extinguishing the flames before it could cause further damage.

This incident comes less than three months after another deadly fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort in Bolu Province, Türkiye, on January 21, 2025. That tragic event claimed the lives of at least 78 people and left 51 others injured.
