Houthi leader counts 900 US air strikes on Yemen within past month
The US Armed Forces have reportedly carried out over 900 strikes over the course of the last month on territories in Yemen that are being controlled by the Houthi rebel movement.
This figure has been provided during an interview with the leader of the rebels to the Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV channel, Caliber.Az reports.
“This week alone, the enemy carried out more than 220 strikes across several provinces in Yemen, using B-2 bombers and F-18 fighter jets. In total, the US has conducted over 900 air and naval strikes this month,” Abdul-Malik al-Houthi told the outlet.
The leader of the Yemeni group that is formally known as Ansar Allah, also claimed that his forces have launched 78 attacks in the same period on Israel and US warships in the Red Sea for which more than 170 drones and cruise and ballistic missiles were deployed.
The United States launched a new wave of strikes on March 15 against Houthi targets in Yemen as the Trump administration, upon returning to office, vowed to intensify efforts that were started under President Biden. The move comes in response to the nearly 18 months of Houthi attacks on international shipping routes in the Red Sea, with US freights being frequently targeted. US President Trump reclassified the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization shortly after starting his second term.
