Tasnim: Hundreds rally across Iran in memory of Khamenei, protest US, Israel
Hundreds of people gathered in city squares across Iran to commemorate Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and to protest what organisers described as US and Israeli aggression.
According to Tasnim News Agency, mourning events are scheduled to take place in Mashhad.
The head of the Khorasan Razavi Coordination Council for Islamic Propagation said residents would assemble in the evening at the city’s main squares and mosques.
In addition to public squares, a memorial ceremony is also set to be held at the Razavi Shrine complex, on the Imam Khomeini Courtyard, where pilgrims and local residents are expected to gather.
The gatherings come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following the February 28 escalation between Iran, the United States and Israel, which triggered missile exchanges and raised security alerts across the region.
