Hungarian minister rejects EU high rep’s proposal for sanctions against Israel
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó has criticised EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell for his proposal to impose sanctions on two Israeli ministers, calling them a threat to EU-Israel relations.
"Szijjártó expressed deep concern over the recent proposals by Borrell, describing them as extremely dangerous and irrational, particularly regarding the Middle East. The minister condemned Borrell's suggestion that the EU must sanction two Israeli ministers, warning that such a move would severely undermine relations between the EU and Israel," State Secretary for International Communication and Relations in the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office Zoltán Kovács wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Earlier, at a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Borrell proposed to EU foreign ministers to impose sanctions on two Israeli ministers. The proposal was discussed during the Brussels meeting, but Borrell admitted that an agreement on this matter has not been reached yet.
