Hungarian PM arrives in Georgia for official visit
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has arrived in Georgia for an official visit just three days after the parliamentary elections, which saw the ruling Georgian Dream party secure victory.
"Orban's trip is as Hungary's prime minister, and he does not represent the European Union," emphasized EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Caliber.Az reports citing Georgian media.
Georgian First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili expressed that Orban's visit is a significant endorsement of the Georgian Dream's success. “We attach great importance to this visit as it acknowledges the important victory that the Georgian Dream has achieved,” he stated.
Davitashvili also highlighted the importance of ongoing cooperation with Hungary, noting, “Cooperation with strategic partners is essential for us. Naturally, collaboration with the European Union and EU member states is very important. We hope that this visit will help deepen relations between us and EU countries.”
He stressed that future relations should be grounded in mutual respect, stating, “We are always ready to deepen these relations to make them more effective and productive, but they must be based on mutual respect.”
