US ambassador departs Moscow after completing term
US Ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracy has concluded her diplomatic mission and departed Moscow, the US Embassy announced.
“U.S. Ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracy is leaving Moscow. On the occasion of her departure, we express our gratitude for her contribution, grounded in consistent diplomacy, deep respect for Russian culture, and dedicated service to the American people,” the embassy’s statement reads, Caliber.Az reports.
Tracy was confirmed as ambassador in December 2022 during the administration of then-US President Joe Biden. She officially arrived in Moscow on January 26, 2023, and assumed her duties four days later. On April 5, 2023, she participated in the credential presentation ceremony with Russian President Vladimir Putin, marking the formal start of her ambassadorship.
Tracy made history as the first woman to head the US diplomatic mission in Russia.
