IAEA chief, Iranian FM discuss recent US-Iran nuclear talks
Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, has held a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss recent developments related to indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
During the call, the two sides exchanged views on the diplomatic process and the regional situation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
They emphasised the importance of constructive engagement and dialogue as tools to advance negotiations and achieve sustainable mutual understanding.
Iran and the United States are engaged in a renewed round of indirect nuclear negotiations, taking place in Geneva and mediated by Oman. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Grossi in Geneva just before these talks, where he expressed readiness for technical discussions and a fair agreement, while rejecting coercion in the process.
The renewed negotiation efforts occur against a backdrop of regional military activity, including Iran’s temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz during military drills, which coincided with the Geneva talks and heightened tensions around the nuclear negotiations.
