IAEA: No radiation risk after strikes on Iranian facilities
The International Atomic Energy Agency said it had been informed by Iran that the heavy water production plant at Khondab was struck earlier on March 28.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the agency said no radiation risk had been identified, noting that the installation does not contain any declared nuclear material.
"Separately, Iran reported today that an industrial facility - the Khuzestan Steel Production Factory which uses sealed Co‑60 and Cs‑137 radioactive sources for gauging - was subjected to strikes but there was no off-site radiation release," the statement said.
Earlier reports indicated that overnight, the Israeli Air Force, acting on intelligence provided by the IDF, struck a heavy-water production facility in Arak, in central Iran.
