IDF: Dozens of Hezbollah militants killed in southern Lebanon ops
The Israel Defence Forces said it had killed dozens of Hezbollah militants and destroyed weapons infrastructure during operations in southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours.
According to the military’s press office, the militants were identified while attempting to prepare ambushes targeting Israeli troops. The IDF said its forces acted to prevent the attacks and neutralise those involved.
“Over the past day, dozens of terrorists were eliminated after being identified attempting to carry out ambushes in southern Lebanon. One of the terrorists was identified armed with an RPG while preparing to fire toward IDF soldiers, and was eliminated prior to carrying out the attack. In addition, the troops apprehended a Hezbollah terrorist who was observing the soldiers. The terrorist was transferred for further questioning.
The troops dismantled weapon storage facilities in which numerous weapon caches were located, command centres, and a launcher that had fired toward Israeli territory. Among the weapons located were military vests, helmets, and a loaded RPG.
The IDF will continue to operate decisively against the Hezbollah terrorist organisation, which has chosen to join the hostilities and operate under the auspices of the Iranian regime, and will not allow harm to Israeli civilians,” the statement said.
