IDF says it struck over 80 Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it carried out extensive strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, claiming it hit more than 80 sites and killed dozens of operatives, following what it described as repeated violations of a ceasefire.
In a statement, the IDF said it struck two Hezbollah command centres in the Bekaa Valley where militants were allegedly operating, Caliber.Az reports.
Overnight, Israeli forces also targeted what the military described as command centres, launch positions, fighters, and other infrastructure in the Nabatieh area and additional locations in southern Lebanon, both within and beyond what it referred to as a “security zone.”
The IDF said the strikes were carried out in response to “repeated violations of the ceasefire” by Hezbollah.
According to the Israeli military, “dozens of Hezbollah terrorists operating in the command centres were eliminated” during the operations, although independent verification of casualty figures was not immediately available.
The IDF also said its forces continue operations in southern Lebanon focused on dismantling what it described as Hezbollah’s underground infrastructure in the Beaufort area.
In a separate incident, the military said it identified rocket fire targeting Israeli troops operating in southern Lebanon. It said it subsequently struck and killed two individuals who had fled the launch site on a motorcycle and destroyed the launcher used in the attack.
