Import curbs from Armenia pose no risk to Russian economy, says minister
Restrictions on the import of certain goods from Armenia will not have a noticeable impact on the Russian economy, including inflation, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov told Izvestia.
“I am ready to say about our markets that there will of course be no impact. Yesterday, I was asked what would happen to inflation and so on. Statistically, we will not even notice these figures. These are rather niche goods.
We always meet the main volume through our own production where necessary. In these areas, we still have a fairly diversified supply structure for our markets. Of course, we value everyone, but it will not create any problems for our economy,” Reshetnikov said.
He was responding to a question on how restrictions on the import of agricultural products and other goods from Armenia would affect the Russian economy.
