India bristles at any country with strong Pakistan ties, says Turkish FM
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that India tends to take issue with countries maintaining close ties with Pakistan, while stressing that Türkiye and India are “mature enough” to expand bilateral cooperation.
Fidan made the remarks during the Raffles Lecture organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), stressing that Ankara has no bilateral issues with New Delhi and urging India not to interpret Türkiye’s relations with other countries through a confrontational lens.
He added that if India takes offence at countries maintaining good relations with Pakistan, there are many such states.
“We have no problem on a bilateral level with India, and we urge India not to read the issue from a different perspective,” the minister noted.
