India successfully tests next-generation missile technology
India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a flight test of its Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, off Odisha’s coast.
According to the DRDO, following successful tests, India has joined the ranks of countries with advanced capabilities in developing propulsion systems for long-range missiles, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The missile launch demonstrated the stable operation of all key onboard systems, highlighting India’s progress in developing indigenous tactical and strategic defence technologies.
The SFDR is a next-generation propulsion system for long-range air-to-air supersonic missiles, enabling fighters to strike targets at speeds up to Mach 3.8 over distances of 50 to 340 km. Experts note that SFDR technology could also be adapted for surface-to-air missile systems.
