Indian opposition unites to defeat PM Modi

India's 26 opposition parties have formed an electoral alliance to put forward a single candidate for prime minister.

The parties believe that only together they have a chance to challenge the current head of government - Narendra Modi, according to NEWSru.co.il.

As reported, the bloc is called the Indian National Union for Integral Development (INDIA).

Modi, who has been the head of the government since 2014, is one of the most popular leaders in Indian history. At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader pursues a policy of suppressing national and religious minorities, restricting democratic freedoms, and undermining the secular nature of the state.
