Inebriated driving turns out to be behind Kyrgyz education minister's dismissal VIDEO
Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Science and Education, Baktiyar Orozov, was caught driving under the influence of alcohol. Earlier reports indicated that he had been removed from his position.
The relevant decree was signed by Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov. The decision was made “due to non-compliance with the ethical standards required of state and municipal officials,” Caliber.Az reports per Central Asian media.
It was reported that Baktyiar Orozov was detained while drunk behind the wheel, a fact confirmed by officers of the Main Directorate for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
The incident occurred at night in Koy-Tash, where Orozov was stopped by traffic police from the Chüy Region on suspicion of consuming alcohol and driving. Medical examination confirmed the presence of alcohol in his system. In a video statement, Baktyiar Orozov said that he had drunk beer.
On December 15, President Sadyr Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a decree relieving Bakhtiyar Orozov of his post as Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation. The decree cited Orozov’s failure to comply with ethical standards as the reason for his dismissal.
