Insecticide traces found on fruit, vegetables at Yerevan shop
Traces of insecticide have been detected on fruit and vegetables at a shop in Yerevan following an expert examination prompted by the so-called “Dichlorvos” incident.
The findings followed the circulation of a video on social media in which the person who posted it alleged that an employee at a fruit and vegetable shop was spraying insecticide on produce displayed for sale, Armenian media reports.
Following the reports, inspectors collected samples of the fruit and vegetables and sent them for laboratory analysis.
The examination subsequently detected traces of insecticide in the produce, according to the authorities.
In response, the regulatory authority said it would conduct extensive inspections of fruit and vegetable retail outlets.
