Interior Ministry: Turkish C-130 crashed in Georgia just 5 km from Azerbaijan border
A Turkish Air Force C-130 military transport aircraft crashed on Georgian territory approximately five kilometres from the border with Azerbaijan, the Georgian Interior Ministry reported.
"On November 11, a Turkish cargo aircraft crashed in the Signagi municipality, roughly five kilometres from Georgia’s state border," the ministry said, as per Caliber.Az, citing Georgian media.
An investigation has been launched to determine whether violations of flight safety regulations or aircraft operation rules contributed to the crash and any resulting human casualties. The Interior Ministry said it will provide updates to the public as more information becomes available.
Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of Defence confirmed that the C-130, which had departed from Azerbaijan, had gone down in Georgia.
Search and rescue operations are currently underway in coordination with Georgian authorities.
The cause of the crash and the number of military personnel on board have not yet been disclosed.
