Interior Ministry: Türkiye detains 16 Islamic State terrorists

A joint special operation has been carried out against the Islamic State terrorist organisation and the Al-Bab local security organisation as a result of intelligence agencies’ work carried out through the assistance of the Syrian Task Force of the Gaziantep Provincial Gendarmerie Command.

During the operation, a total of 16 members of the Islamic State armed terrorist organisation were detained, including a terrorist acting as a judge within the organisation, Yenisafak reports citing the Turkish Ministry of Interior.

Two Kalashnikov assault rifles, a pistol, a hunting rifle, 85 cartridges and documents were seized during the search operations conducted in the houses of the detainees.

Some 15 detained people were arrested upon the decision of the local judicial bodies.
