Iran announces major security operations targeting “traitors”, terror cells
Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence has reported the arrest of 97 individuals described as “traitors” and the elimination of a dangerous criminal.
The ministry claimed that the detainees were allegedly planning unrest and casualties under the direction of the United States and Israel, and that they were apprehended while in possession of weapons, state media IRIB reports.
In Khuzestan province, authorities reportedly identified and neutralized five armed groups, seizing bombs, automatic rifles, and ammunition during the operations. In the southeast of the country, 13 people suspected of espionage were detained, and a terrorist group was dismantled.
The ministry said the operations were conducted in memory of the “late Minister of Intelligence” Esmail Khatib.
