Iran appoints new IRGC aerospace force commander
In the wake of Major General Amir Ali Hajizadeh’s death, Iran’s Supreme Leader has appointed Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Mousavi Seyyed Majid Mousavi as the new commander of the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The appointment, announced in an official decree, comes shortly after Hajizadeh was killed in an Israeli strike, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Brigadier General Mousavi’s selection was based on a recommendation from the IRGC’s Commander-in-Chief and in recognition of his qualifications and military experience.
In the decree, the Supreme Leader outlined the expectations for the new commander, emphasising the need to further enhance the IRGC’s missile and drone capabilities, expand Iran’s presence in space, and deepen the spiritual and ideological commitment of the force’s personnel.
He also expressed deep appreciation for the contributions of Major General Hajizadeh during his tenure, referring to them as “valuable and foundational.”
