Kazakhstan, China open joint biosafety laboratory PHOTO

Kazakhstan and China have opened a joint biosafety laboratory in Almaty, which will operate at the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU).

"The laboratory will serve as a key platform for joint Kazakhstan-China research in the fields of biosafety, microbiology, and the One Health concept," Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.

The facility will conduct research on emerging infectious diseases, monitor animal diseases, study genomes, and develop technologies aimed at strengthening biological safety.

Project partners include the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Zhejiang University, and the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
