Iran appoints top brass following Israeli airstrikes PHOTO
In the wake of a devastating Israeli airstrike that claimed the lives of several senior Iranian military commanders, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has swiftly appointed new top officials to key positions within Iran’s armed forces.
Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, former commander of the Iranian Army, has been named the new Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, succeeding Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, who was killed in the strike, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
Simultaneously, Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, previously the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces, has been promoted to commander-in-chief of the IRGC, replacing Major General Hossein Salami, who also fell victim to the recent Israeli aggression.
In addition, following the martyrdom of Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, Ayatollah Khamenei has elevated Brigadier General Ali Shadmani to the rank of Major General and appointed him as the new commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, a critical strategic command within Iran’s military structure.
