Iran approves visa waiver agreement with 33 countries
The Iranian authorities have approved the agreement on the cancellation of the visa regime with 33 countries.
According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, the proposal to abolish visas with these countries was initiated by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts and supported by the Iranian government.
The head of the Iranian ministry Izzatulloh Zarghami called the move a "bold decision" and said that "from now on, travelling to Iran will be easier for citizens of 33 countries and they will be able to get acquainted with historical, natural, cultural and religious sights of Iran".
He recalled that Iran with its 27 sites of tangible heritage of humanity is in the 10th place and with 24 sites of intangible heritage of humanity in the 5th place.
The countries with which Iran has cancelled its visa regime included: India, Russia, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Mauritania, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Seychelles, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Japan, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, Peru, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Belarus.
