Iran: Armenia’s European ties won’t harm relations with Tehran
Iran has received assurances from the Armenian leadership that Yerevan’s efforts to expand cooperation with other countries, including European partners, will not undermine its relationship with Tehran.
Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani made the remarks in an interview with Armenian Public Television, Caliber.Az reports, referring to Armenian media.
He was responding to a question on how the Islamic Republic views Armenia’s current foreign policy diversification.
“Tehran trusts its Armenian friends,” Sobhani said, expressing confidence in the Armenian government's approach. “We believe the Armenian government is quite sensitive about cooperation with Iran,” he added.
The ambassador also reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to promoting regional peace and stability, as well as encouraging Armenia’s peaceful coexistence with its neighbours.
