Iran arrests man accused of sending images, coordinates of sensitive sites
Iranian police have arrested a man in Tehran who is accused of collecting and sharing images, data and geographical coordinates of sensitive locations, according to a report by the Cyber Police.
Authorities said the suspect had been monitored after intelligence and cyber specialists detected activities involving the collection of information about strategically important sites. Police alleged that he intended to send the material to opposition groups.
According to the report, officers conducted covert surveillance and gathered digital evidence before arresting the suspect at a location described as his hideout.
Police said the man admitted during initial questioning to the allegations against him and to having links with opposition groups. The authorities did not provide further details about the identity of the suspect or the specific locations involved.
The case has been referred to the judicial authorities on charges including alleged actions against national security. The suspect remains in the custody of the judiciary pending further legal proceedings.
