Iran arrests suspected informant cells in several provinces
Units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have detained several groups accused of espionage and militant activity across multiple regions of Iran, according to Iranian media.
The arrests were carried out by a unit known as the “Anonymous Soldiers of Imam Zaman,” operating under the intelligence directorate responsible for Iran’s central provinces.
According to the report, security forces dismantled two separate organisational cells. One consisted of 10 members detained in Mazandaran Province, while another 10-member cell was arrested in Razavi Khorasan Province.
The suspects were accused of acting as informants and transmitting information to adversaries about the locations of military installations as well as certain facilities belonging to Iran’s economic infrastructure.
In a separate operation in Khuzestan Province, Iranian authorities also detained three individuals described as terrorists. According to the report, the group had recently posed a threat to urban security by carrying out armed attacks targeting security personnel and public locations.
