Iran blames Washington for collapse of Islamabad talks
13 April 2026 19:27
The failure of Iran–US negotiations in Islamabad on April 11 was caused by Washington’s constantly changing demands, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during a phone call with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, says a statement published on the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Telegram channel.
“Due to the greedy approach and constant changes in demands from the American side, no agreement could be reached,” the statement said.
Araghchi commented on the talks held in Islamabad, saying that Tehran approached the meeting with good intentions despite deep mistrust toward Washington. He also acknowledged that some progress had been made during discussions with US negotiators.
