Iran calls for 30 million volunteers to control energy consumption

Iran requires 30 million volunteers to actively contribute to promoting efficient electricity consumption across the country, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said.

The president stressed the importance of participation from all those who are able to contribute to the effort, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Iranian president’s website.

“30 million volunteers, please help us manage energy consumption — electricity and gas must not be cut for industry,” Pezeshkian stated.

He also noted that in the current situation, strict energy control is essential, but does not require major sacrifices. As an example, he suggested that households could use two light bulbs instead of ten.

Pezeshkian added that electricity shortages have increased following US and Israeli strikes on the country, including attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure.
