Iran claims US plot to steal uranium amid diplomatic fallout
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, has accused the United States of undermining trust in diplomatic processes over the past year and raised concerns about a possible operation to steal Iranian uranium.
Baghaei said that in less than nine months, US actions have “destroyed the diplomatic process in the worst possible way,” Defa Press reports.
“The world sees that US statements are completely inconsistent with their actions. The US’ terrorist actions in Iran have effectively removed diplomacy from their agenda. Nevertheless, we are obligated to fulfill our diplomatic responsibilities. Right now, the priority is to focus all efforts on protecting Iran,” he stated.
Addressing speculation over a potential US operation to seize Iranian uranium, Baghaei highlighted ongoing doubts regarding the circumstances of an American pilot rescue mission. He referenced alleged hiding sites for the pilot in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, noting that the landing locations of US aircraft in southern Isfahan were far from these points. According to Iranian officials, this discrepancy points to a possible “deception operation” aimed at removing Iranian uranium.
