Iran closes airspace over western part of the country

Iranian authorities have decided to close the western part of the country’s airspace on security grounds until further notice.

The announcement was made by Majid Akhavan, a spokesperson for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization.

“Following the security assessment and the issuance of a NOTAM, the western sector of the country’s airspace has been closed indefinitely,” he said, as reported by IRNA.

Akhavan urged residents not to go to airports unless necessary and to monitor flight information through the media.
