Iran confirms close cooperation with Iraq, Iraqi Kurdistan to secure shared borders
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Ebrahimi has announced that Iran is working closely with Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan to ensure the security of their common borders.
The ministry’s press service said that Iranian military and security forces maintain constant contact with the central government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan regional leadership, Caliber.Az reports.
“These respected partners are fully aware of their responsibilities and understand that any abuse of the current situation to destabilise the shared Iran-Iraq borders will have very serious consequences,” he said.
Ebrahimi emphasised that cooperation has been successful so far and expressed hope that it will continue to protect the security of the region and the national interests of all parties.
