Iran confirms Israeli strike on Karoun petrochemical facility in Khuzestan
Iran has confirmed that an Israeli strike hit the Karoun petrochemical company in the city of Mahshahr in southwestern Khuzestan province, according to Iranian officials.
Khuzestan’s deputy governor for security affairs said projectiles struck the facility, causing damage to parts of the industrial site. No immediate information was provided regarding casualties, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Day shift workers at the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone in Mahshahr were evacuated after an Israeli airstrike hit the Karun petrochemical company, the economic zone’s administration said.
The confirmation follows earlier statements by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which said it had struck several targets at a petrochemical complex in Mahshahr as part of ongoing military operations in Iran.
The Karoun facility is located within a major petrochemical industrial zone that has been repeatedly targeted during recent escalations between Israel and Iran.
