Iran conveyed conditions for ending conflict to US, spokesman says

Iran has conveyed its conditions for ending the conflict to the United States through a Qatari mediator in New York, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has said.

Speaking to IRNA, Baghaei said Tehran was demanding an end to hostilities on all fronts and a halt to what Iran describes as “acts of aggression” by the United States.

“Iran’s conditions also include ending the naval blockade and economic warfare, as well as unfreezing Iranian assets,” Baghaei said.

Earlier, US special envoy Steve Witkoff said US and Iranian delegations had held lengthy indirect talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

On September 22, US President Donald Trump said that there was “a lot of momentum” towards reaching a deal with Iran, following what he described as productive talks between his envoys and mediators.

Speaking at a joint meeting with GCC leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Trump said, “We’re completely isolating Iran financially,” he said.

“Hopefully they’ll do the right thing fast before it’s too late.”
