Iran could earn tens of billions from Strait of Hormuz transit

Iran’s annual revenue from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz could reach at least $64 billion if a $2 million fee is charged per vessel, Hassan Abedini, deputy head of Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, stated.

“The Strait of Hormuz has become a corridor under Iran’s reasonable management. Considering that 32,000 ships passed through the strait last year, charging $2 million each could bring Iran around $64 billion,” Abedini said on state television.
