Iran criticizes Israeli Knesset resolution as evidence of racism

19 July 2024 19:52

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, has strongly condemned a recent resolution passed by the Israeli Knesset, describing it as an overt manifestation of the regime's racist nature.

The resolution, which rejects the establishment of a Palestinian state, was passed on July 18 with 68 votes in favour and only nine opposed, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.

In a statement posted on his X account, Kanaani asserted that the decision underscores the apartheid nature of the Israeli government. "The apartheid Israeli regime has once again demonstrated to the world that it is not just a threat to the Palestinian nation, but to international peace and security as well," Kanaani wrote.

He accused the Israeli government of committing war crimes and genocide against Palestinians. "The new resolution passed by the Knesset, following nine months of continuous war crimes and genocide committed by the regime's terrorist army, further exposes the racist nature of the usurping Zionist regime," he said.

The Iranian spokesperson also criticized the international community for its perceived inaction. "In the shadow of the inaction of governments and international organizations, including the United Nations, to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people and enforce international laws against the Zionist regime, resistance and fighting against the occupiers remains the right of the occupied nation," Kanaani added.
