Iran detains alleged US-Israeli “agents” in multi-province operation VIDEO
Iranian authorities have carried out a large-scale operation, detaining 19 individuals linked to a US-Israeli network across five provinces, the Ministry of Intelligence said.
During the operation, security forces seized 137 weapons, including firearms, ammunition, and special equipment, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
In Mazandaran province, eight members of a cell allegedly preparing terrorist attacks were detained, with four combat weapons and a large quantity of ammunition confiscated. In Lorestan and Hormozgan, seven agents accused of transmitting information about strategically important sites were identified. In Gilan, a group of four individuals was detained for preparing weapons, organising Starlink internet access, and providing safe houses for militants, as well as supporting at least 13 members of the network in other provinces.
In Sistan and Baluchestan, joint efforts by intelligence, security forces, and border guards uncovered major weapons caches, including RPG-7 launchers, shotguns, SVD rifles, M16 rifles, Kalashnikov assault rifles, 119 pistols, gas canisters, and stun guns. Iranian authorities stated that most of the seized weapons were manufactured in the United States and could have been used to arm internal operatives.
The ministry added that the operation was made possible through information provided by citizens and extensive surveillance by specialised units.
