Iran downs Israeli Hermes drone with “358” surface-to-air system VIDEO
Iranian forces have shot down another Israeli Hermes 900 drone using a new surface-to-air missile known as the “358.”
The Telegram channel War History Weapons drew attention to footage showing the weapon in action.
In the video, filmed from the missile’s perspective, the Hermes drone can be seen locked by the seeker head as the “358” approaches. The recording cuts off near the drone’s fuselage, indicating a successful hit.
The first images of the “358,” which is classified as a loitering surface-to-air missile, appeared in 2020. The system is launched from a compact ground-based platform, after which the missile can circle in the air while searching for a target. The “358” is equipped with a seeker head capable of locking onto objects. A small jet engine enables the missile to engage drones and helicopters.
