Iran, European powers to meet over nuclear issue, regional escalation

Iran's nuclear program and the regional fallout from Israel’s recent military actions against the Islamic Republic will form the core agenda of upcoming high-level talks between Tehran and the European troika — comprising the United Kingdom, Germany, and France — the country’s Foreign Ministry announced.

Speaking to media, Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei stated that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will participate in a joint meeting with his European counterparts and the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

The meeting has been convened at the request of the European side, Baghaei noted.

“A joint meeting is scheduled with representatives of the three European countries, as well as the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, at their request. The discussions will focus on Iran’s nuclear dossier and recent regional developments in the aftermath of the Zionist regime’s military aggression against the Islamic Republic,” the ministry's press service quoted Baghaei as saying.

The talks come amid heightened regional tensions following a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites, actions which Tehran has denounced as acts of aggression. The discussions are expected to address the broader implications of the conflict for regional stability, as well as the future of the stalled negotiations surrounding Iran’s nuclear dossier.
