Iran: Ex-foreign minister Kharazi dead after strike
Iranian media have reported that Dr Seyed Kamal Kharazi, head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, has died after sustaining injuries in what officials described as targeted attacks by Israeli–American forces.
According to Iran’s state news agency Kharazi succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Friday (April 10), having previously been reported wounded in what authorities characterised as a deliberate strike.
Family members confirmed his death in remarks carried by Iranian media, describing him as a devoted public servant and a senior adviser to the Supreme Leader. They said he had “joined the ranks of Iran’s martyrs” after a lifetime of service.
Kharazi was a prominent figure in Iranian diplomacy, having served as foreign minister and later as head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations.
He also held roles including chief of Iran’s Cognitive Sciences Centre and membership of the Expediency Discernment Council.
