Iran executes nine Islamic State militants in major anti-terror operation

Iran has executed nine individuals affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organisation.

The convicted militants were arrested in 2018 after being accused of planning terrorist attacks within the country, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media. 

Following comprehensive legal proceedings and court trials, the death sentences were officially carried out in accordance with Iranian law. Authorities emphasised that the executions were the culmination of a thorough judicial process, underscoring Iran’s commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring national security.
