Iran executes two ISIS militants convicted in 2023 bus bombing

Iran has executed two militants affiliated with ISIS who were convicted in connection with a 2023 bus bombing targeting religious pilgrims, Mehr News Agency reports.

The attack occurred on a bus en route from Tehran to Ilam province in western Iran, near the border with Iraq. The explosion claimed the life of a young child and caused injuries to several other passengers.

The two men were involved in planting ‍the bomb on the bus, the agency said.

Iranian authorities have consistently emphasized their commitment to pursuing and punishing perpetrators of terrorist acts, particularly those associated with ISIS, in an effort to deter future attacks on civilian and religious gatherings.
