Iran executes two men convicted over January unrest

Iranian authorities have executed two men, identified as Javad Zamani and Abolfazl Saadi, who were convicted of organising armed uprisings during unrest that took place in January of this year.
According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) press service and judicial officials in Semnan Province, the two were found guilty of rebellion, actions against national security, illegal possession and use of weapons, and the destruction of public and private property, Caliber.Az reports.
Authorities said the death sentences were carried out following the completion of legal proceedings. No additional details about the timing or location of the executions were immediately released.
