30 March 2026 10:45
Iran executed two men convicted of ties to the opposition group Mujahedin-e Khalq Organisation (MEK) and planning armed attacks in Tehran using improvised launchers, according to Iranian media.
Akbar Daneshvarkar and Mohammad Taghavi Sangdehi connected with MEK operatives via Telegram and organised teams to target security forces and sensitive sites in Tehran.
They secured safe houses funded by MEK, prepared improvised launchers and explosives, and participated in reconnaissance and harassment operations.
Following intelligence efforts and arrests, both men were apprehended, charged, and ultimately executed for threatening national security and carrying out terrorist activities.
