Iran extends airspace closure
16 June 2025 09:38
Iran's airspace will be closed until 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, the Islamic Republic's Civil Aviation Organization has announced.
"The country's airspace will be closed until 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 16," the statement said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
On June 13, Iran closed its airspace to civilian aircraft following recent Israeli strikes on Iranian targets — including nuclear and military infrastructure — amid retaliatory missile exchanges.
This closure is part of a broader shutdown: Israel, Iraq, and Jordan have also restricted their skies, and international airlines are either cancelling or rerouting flights through safer corridors like Central Asia or the Mediterranean.
