Iran extends airspace closure until June 22 amid ongoing Israeli strikes
Iranian authorities have extended the closure of the country’s airspace until June 22, as Israeli military operations targeting Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure continue.
Citing official sources, all domestic and international flights remain suspended until 14:00 local time on June 22, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
No additional details were immediately provided regarding the decision.
The measure comes amid escalating regional tensions following a large-scale Israeli military operation that began on June 13.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the goal of the operation is to completely eliminate Iran’s capability to develop nuclear weapons. The campaign is focused on both military facilities and components of Iran’s nuclear programme across the country.
The extended closure of Iranian airspace has caused significant disruption to regional and international air travel. Airlines are advising passengers to check with their carriers for updates.
