Iran files complaint to UN over US seizure of commercial vessel
Iran’s Foreign Ministry has submitted an official complaint to the UN Secretary-General and the International Maritime Organisation over the US seizure of the Iranian commercial vessel Touska on April 20.
The ministry condemned the incident as an “illegal and barbarous act” that violates international law and the ceasefire agreement, Caliber.Az reports, citing Al Jazeera.
It said the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasises the need for the immediate release of the Iranian vessel, its sailors, crew, and their families.
The ministry warned of the very dangerous consequences of this illegal and criminal action by the United States.
The statement added that the seizure of the vessel was accompanied by intimidation of the sailors, crew members, and their families.
