Iran halts all flights to Europe following new EU restrictions
Iran Air, the country's sole airline servicing European Union destinations, has suspended all flights to Europe due to recently imposed restrictions by the EU.
Maqsoud Asadi Samani, the secretary of the Association of Iranian Airlines, confirmed the cessation of services, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
“The only airline in our country that operated flights to Europe was Iran Air. Due to the new EU sanctions imposed on Iran Air, no Iranian aircraft will be flying to Europe from now on,” Samani stated.
On October 14, the EU added three Iranian airlines — Iran Air, Mahan and Saha — to its list with new sanctions against Iranian individuals and entities.
The sanctions have targeted companies and individuals involved in the air missile transfer program by building, supplying and transporting drones and parts used in their maintenance to Russia.
